The directorate is keen in promoting and publishing research, studies and reports related to political affairs, international relations, economic, legal, and social affairs, with a particular focus on issues of concern to Saudi Arabia. The directorate is also responsible for overseeing the institute's scientific and technical publications in magazines, books and studies, and to build bridges of relationships with institutes and similar scientific and training centers to the exchange of experiences, information and studies in order to serve the objectives of the Institute. The main objectives of the directorate are as follows:
First
to promote scientific research and preparation of studies and researches, and provide different types of assistance and support to researchers and specialists, which serve the objectives of the Saudi Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Institute.
Second
preparation of researches of special nature by finding the various dimensions of contemporary issues of concern to Saudi Arabia, and contribute to the diplomatic service of Saudi Arabia.
Third
conduct training sessions to strengthen skills in various cadres specialized research at the Institute. And the strengthening of cooperation ties with local, regional and international research centers in the area of research, exchange of experiences and publications.
Fourth
Create information and database for researchers and specialists of different specialization in order to serve Institute objectives.
Activities of periodical and publication's directorate:
- Issuance of the diplomatic studies magazine: a scientific journal specialized in international studies and diplomacy; it is issued in accordance with the parameters and objectives of editorial.
- Issuance of a series of research and studies: This program aims to attract studies and research prepared by researchers inside and outside the Institute. And published in accordance with specified conditions.
- Translation and publications: the deployment of a remarkable studies in the areas of politics, law, economy, diplomacy, in particular those of interest to the Kingdom, according to specific criteria.
The Department issued periodicals and publications during the academic year 1425-1426 e number nineteenth and the twentieth edition of Diplomatic Studies, and contain the following topics: international humanitarian law: principles and objectives, the Arab Gulf and the Caspian Sea dimensions of the conflict standing within the global energy market, the International Criminal Court: ambitious law and the challenges of fact, the legal system of negotiations international contracts, the protection of victims of wars in Islamic law, the jurisdiction of Commercial Arbitration Centre in the Gulf Cooperation Council, the Zionist terrorism: a study in assets and practices, economic analysis for Peace: a comparative study between Northern Ireland and the self-rule areas in Palestine, in addition to a number of presentations, books and reports. As the Department of book publishing periodicals and legal controls and the process of planning and some diplomatic aspects applications in the Kingdom, and the book evolved Saudi foreign policy: the establishment of the state to the beginning of reforms. The second book is about international humanitarian law and the United Nations Refugees High Commissioner in 1951. The Department participated in the annual report output in 1424 - 1425.
The management also provided upon the desire of the Information and Studies Centre of the Ministry, a project to complete scientific encyclopedia about the achievements of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in all aspects.
