The directorate of information technology was activated in Shawwal 1424H corresponding to 12/2003, and the most important functions was the preparation of strategies, plans and programs to upgrade the status of information technology in order to serve the needs of administrative units and following up their implementation after its adoption.
Despite the shortage of human resources of this administration, but it has endeavored to develop a plan of action, coupled with a timeframe to complete the necessary upgrading institute's level to a better level as applicable to this educational and diplomatic organization, the plans include the following:
- Setting up the infrastructure.
- Training human resources in the filed of computer working in the Institute and teaching members.
- Development of the Institute.
Overview about the Directorate:
Department of Information Technology is working on the supervision, controlling, updating and supporting computer systems and electronic services related to the preparation and identification of technical standards for the development of electronic services systems, databases and programming languages and application in the management of information technology.
And also study and analysis electronic services and systems to identify and prepare ways to build technical specifications of the systems required and the development and preparation of proposals required as per regulations.
Objectives and management services:
Management and operation and maintenance modems needed to link networks, Internet and Intranet plus providing computer services at the Institute, such as e-mail and Internet surf. Manage e-mail accounts and Internet creation, modification or deletion of accounts. Provide technical support for network and systems. Announcements System via e-mail to all beneficiaries. Follow-up LAN and solve their problems and the expansion taking place from time to time.
Control systems using network security protection against viruses, firewalls and other tools. Providing technical computer support, software installation and maintenance of programs, and the installation and maintenance of devices. Providing inputs for computer users and other parts. Follow up, update and develop institute�s website. Providing training services in various disciplines and computer networks. Providing development and maintenance for systems and programs.

Information Technology directorate issues a periodic bulletin
Information Technology directorate publish periodical bulletin specialized in information technology and communications and latest issues in the world technical devices, which is published bimonthly, the first issue was in Muharram 1428H corresponding to January 2007, the issue comprised of four chapters, including the latest news of the directorate that comprise of news of the directorate such as events and activities through internal and external partnerships, chapter of communication technologies and the Internet and education. This bulletin is supervised by HE Ambassador Dr. Saad Bin Abdulrahman Al Ammar, and chairman and the editor of this bulletin is Mr. Bandar bin Talal Al-Rashid, Director of Information Technology directorate.
The issuance of automated System brochure for development and rehabilitation programs
Informational brochure was issued to give more information about system development programs and rehabilitation, where it contains the contents and characteristics of the system, main screens of the system, basics of the system, the powers given to users of the system whether from faculty members, scholars and data entry and the preparation of programs and materials, it also includes wide clarification for nomination process and acceptance of scholars and the attendance roll and the work of questionnaires and the system Administrative circulars.
The issuance of a handbook about the automation of administrative, financial and archiving applications
The booklet contains a clear definition of the system of administrative, financial and Archiving fields, it is as a guide for the use of regulations and how to pursue administrative and financial affairs, and how to access to a high level of confidentiality and competence, and excellence in speed, ease of use and how to calculate salaries and to cover the administrative, financial aspects of the staff, employees (salaries and wages, advances, payroll salary), and how to print various reports and statistics.
